About SeCo
An artist-led rural residency in Seal Cove, Grand Manan.
SeCo supports research and creation shaped by Grand Manan’s landscape, history, ecology, labour, archives, and community.
Grand Manan is a working island that has long drawn artists, writers, naturalists, and researchers. SeCo makes room for sustained time here: paying attention, building relationships, and developing an independent practice in response to place.
The residency is being developed on a small coastal property adjacent to Seal Cove’s historic smoke sheds. Their connection to fishing and the sardine industry is part of a living landscape shaped by work, adaptation, and reuse.
Residencies, public programming, and collaborations will grow through relationships with artists, residents, archives, and cultural organizations.
