What we’re looking for
A thoughtful, achievable proposal rooted in your practice, with a meaningful connection to Grand Manan. Openness and adaptability matter in a small, rural residency.
The selection framework considers artistic merit, feasibility, residency fit, and a contribution to the residency or community that makes sense within your practice.
Some questions to begin with
Why this place?
Why Grand Manan? Consider its landscape, ecology, labour, archives, histories, or communities, and what you still want to learn.
What would you investigate?
Describe the questions or processes you would explore. A finished exhibition need not be the goal.
What would make it workable?
Consider time, materials, equipment, travel, and access needs. What would you bring, and what would you need from SeCo?
Explore our Island guide for food, everyday essentials, and ways to explore Grand Manan as you think through a stay. Residency facilities and support will be confirmed with the call.
How would you work in relation to others?
Consider consent and reciprocity. Access to people, private property, collections, or local knowledge must be agreed upon.
What work helps us understand your practice?
Gather a short artist statement, current CV, and clear documentation of relevant work.
Eligibility, dates, facilities, funding, and final requirements will be published with the call. Please wait until applications open before submitting.
